Outdoor Classrooms
"One Bucket at a Time"
A Resource Guide for Virginia Educators

Use the "Bucket Approach" to engage your students in your outdoor classroom.  This program provides teachers of K-2 classes the tools to get started : one sturdy child-sized bucket per student and a 5-gallon bucket for the teacher.  The buckets are seats, portable desks, "home base" while working outdoors, drums...the possibilities are limitless.  Please refer to our latest Fall/Winter Newsletter for more information.

If you are an elementary school teacher (K-2) in Franklin, Henry, Roanoke counties or the City of Roanoke and interested in using the "Bucket Approach", contact Kathy Smith, Program Manager/Education Coordinator at the BRSWCD at (540) 483-5341 ext.117 or (276) 632-3164 ext. 3.
