Pigg River TMDL Program
The Pigg River TMDL involves agriculture specific cost-sharing projects along
the Pigg River Watershed. TMDL stands for Total Maximum Daily Load. Cost-share
funding for the county's Pigg River area also includes Big Chestnut Creek, Snow
Creek and Story Creek. Cost-share conservation practices such as Stream
Exclusion and Riparian Area Improvement (installation of woodland buffers,
grazing management improvements and controlled access to streams) and Reduction
of Nutrients (assistance in methods to conserve soil nutrients and reduce the
need for fertilizer)
are available through the Pigg River TMDL cost-share program.
Financial assistance for these programs is administered through the District and
can include up to 75% of eligible costs for each practice. In addition,
producers may also qualify for tax credit. For more information, contact P.W.
