  1. I’m an 8th grade teacher at Benjamin Franklin Middle School in Rocky Mount, VA and a Virginia Master Naturalist as well. We have an environmental study trail here on school grounds that has developed a serious runoff issue thanks to drainage from the parking lot. We’re interested in possibly creating a rain garden/runoff management plan to keep the trail intact AND to keep the parking lot runoff out of the creek that runs through the property. We can find tons of volunteer labor and materials. What we do not have is a plan. Is this something you can help with? Thank you for your time and assistance!

  2. I work for a public water and sewer service authority. Several years ago we had an older residential neighborhood with many of the drainfields in poor condition. Some drainfields had completely failed. The Authority extended a low pressure sewer through the neighborhood and BRSWCD provided grant funding (based on financial need) to a number of homeowners to help them with their onsite costs and fees. Without BRSWCD the project would not have been possible. It appears we have another similar situation. The surface runoff from this area eventually makes its way to a scenic recreational lake. Is there any grant funding available in the near future for a project of this nature?

  3. My name is Shelly Garman and I work with the United States Postal Service. I was wondering if you send out containers for people to ship back with soil and water samples in them. And if so, how you do your shipping. If someone could contact me, I would love to discuss how to get you the best price for your shipping needs.

    Thank you so much.
