The Blue Ridge Soil and Water Conservation District (Blue Ridge SWCD) is one of 47 Districts in the Commonwealth of Virginia whose Boards are tasked with implementing Virginia’s Best Management Practice Cost Share Programs to farmers and agriculture producers. Blue Ridge SWCD Conservation Technician II
Blue Ridge Soil and Water Conservation District is accepting applications for the position of Conservation Technician II. The successful candidate for this full-time position will implement the Virginia Agricultural Cost Share Program for the district. This position is classified as exempt. The successful candidate will work closely with other staff members to carry out program deliverables in support of the Commonwealth’s water quality goals. Education and/or experience in conservation planning, agriculture, natural resources and/or environmental science with a Bachelor of Science degree is preferred or equivalent experience showing the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform job duties in conservation related field. The successful candidate will have or be willing to obtain conservation planning certification from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. The successful candidate must be a team player, possess excellent communication and computer skills, be well organized, and self-motivated. The candidate must have a valid driver’s license. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a federal background check. A six-month probationary period shall be required.
Salary range for the Conservation Technician II position is $42,000-$45,000 based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include paid sick and annual leave, paid holidays, participation in the Virginia Retirement System, and employer paid healthcare coverage including dental and vision.
